Additional Off-Leash Parks in
Expansion Areas As
the largest city in the fastest growing county in
California, Roseville gains hundreds of new families
each month. And about one-third of these families
have at least one dog. As the city grows it is
important that the dog parks grow as well.
Roseville presently has
three dog parks.
Marco
Dog Park opened in 1997 and at
the time was an usual amenity for a city to have.
A second dog park
Bear Dog Park
opened in 2006 and is a year round dog park. The
third dog park is within
William "Bill" Hughes Park. It opened in
2007 and is also year round.
The City Of Roseville
approved a large expansion area, called the West Roseville
Specific Plan area (WRSP). It will eventually add
about 25,000 new residents as well as commercial and
industrial uses. This area is now constructing new homes,
eventually shopping and parks.
RDOG approached the City
and the developers of this new community. RDOG was
able to get two new dog parks written into the general
plan. One will be more of a neighbor hood dog
park, and the other one will be within Fiddyment Park. |
